The quickest way to jumpstart this is to jailbreak friendly/neutral lords that have been taken prisoner, and to let captured enemy lords go. Eventually, you will need friends from around the kingdoms to act as your vassals. Having large amounts of passive-income generation will be a huge asset when you finally decide to pledge to a faction or start your own kingdom.įinally, work to build good relations with lords. Furthermore, since all of your army's wages will be covered, you can hire top tier mercenaries from taverns without worrying about their biggest drawback.ĭoing this will allow you to amass gold like nobodies business, and you can invest this gold into acres of farmland or industry in cities. If your faction signs a peace treaty, you can join a new faction and have villages/caravans to raid (Village raiding is a massive source of income so long as you have companions that do not object to it). Being a mercenary allows you to have fluid loyalties.

Play the mercenary captain while you trade, raid, and fight in tournaments. My personal pearl of wisdom is to put off joining/creating a faction for as long as possible. Things like the ability to issue pre-battle orders, automatically collect/sell loot, enhanced diplomacy, and each city having its own unique tournament pitch. I highly reccomend the Floris Mod Pack, which is a collection of several dozen mods that enhance Native's gameplay without changing any of the core set pieces. The single most important suggestion I can offer: Don't play Native.
